Vancouver had served on Cook's final two voyages before leading this important expedition, which charted new territory in present-day Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and British Columbia, in addition to the South Pacific. Includes what are "probably the first published views of California" (Streeter sale VI:3497), depicting the Mission of San Carlos and the Presidio of Monterey.
