VARELA, HÉCTOR FLORENCIO; editor. El Americano.
VARELA, HÉCTOR FLORENCIO; editor. El Americano. Folio, 1/4 morocco, moderate wear at extremities of binding. Paris, 23 September 1872 to 17 March 1873
- Notes: A richly illustrated weekly concerning Spanish-speaking Central and South America, written in Spanish and published in Paris. Editor Héctor Varela (1832-1891) was an Argentinian exile in Paris who was attempting to develop European support for his Pan-Hispanic and republican principles. As most of the ads were Parisian, we can assume the bulk of his readers were European as well, but the content is Latin American and covers a wide variety of topics. This set is complete from issues 27 through 51, including an oversized 2-leaf supplement to issue 38. The interior is in nearly flawless condition.
