A Journal: Or a Most Particular Account of all that passed in the Late Siege of Vienna.

London: Printed for H. Rogers and M. Gylliflower, to be sold by Walter Davis, Book-binder, 1684.

First edition in English, octavo, translated from the original Glaubwürdige Diarium, woodcut royal arms of Charles II bound opposite the title signaling his imprimatur; bound in full contemporary speckled English sheepskin, ruled in blind, spine a bit dry, nicely preserved and unsophisiticated; some worming to lower blank margin, 6 x 3 3/4 in.

The Siege of Vienna, in which the Habsburgs partnered with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth to repulse the invading Ottomans, who had occupied the city for two months, is considered a turning point for the Empire's expansion into Europe. After European powers secured Vienna, the Ottomans were essentially unable to make any more incursions on the continent and were forced to concede their gains in Hungary back to the Holy Roman Empire.
