Pair of albums entitled "Tonkin, Vues et Types" and "Tonkin, Vues et Passages," containing 75 lyrical photographs by dieu le fils, Tonkin, including erotic studies of female nudes; scenes of North Vietnam (mainly Hanoi; Haiphong and rural areas); a portrait of Kinh Luc, King of Tonkin wearing the badge of the Legion of Honor; occupational portraits of musicians and comedians, Petit Lac and Rue du Riz in Hanoi; and picturesque scenes of Sontay citadel; and Do-Son; Cho-Bo; Song Cau; Ngan-Son, Touranne; and Tuyen-Qian. Albumen prints, 6 1/2x8 3/4 to 8x10 3/4 inches (16.5x22.3 to 20.5x27.5 cm.) on two-toned mounts, many with captions in the plates. Oblong folio, gilt-lettered morocco; spine abraded, edgewear; all edges gilt. 1860s
