VINCENT SMITH (1929 - 2004) Arthur Rimbaud's House in Harar.
VINCENT SMITH (1929 - 2004)
Arthur Rimbaud's House in Harar.
Etching, 1975. 750x559 mm; 14 3/4x22 inches, full margins. Artist's proof. Signed "Vincent," titled, dated and inscribed "AP" in pencil, lower margin. A very good impression.
Smith's view of the house of Arthur Rimbaud, the French symbolist poet, who was a trader and gunrunner along the North African coast for the last 10 years of his short life, conveys both his Expressionist and literary interests. Another impression printed in colors is in the collection of David C. Driskell at the University of Maryland. Holland, p. 158.
