Vladimir Lebedev Long Live The Vanguard Of The Revolution/The Red Fleet. 1920 27 x 19.125 inches. Condition A-: minor tears in margins. In 1920, a special poster department of the Rosta Windows opened in St. Petersburg under Vladimir Kozlinsky. Lebedev, a cartoonist who had joined the Revolution in its earliest days, followed Kozlinsky, and in two years, they did approximately 1000 pieces, with an estimated 600 by Lebedev. This poster, using only red for the text and black for the image, is a glorification of the Red Fleet, which was based in Petersburg. A bold sailor stands in the foreground, withthe harbor in the left background and on the right, the city and palaces, with one of them burning.
