W Vondracek Miami Hotels. Group of 6 posters. Circa 1978-1980 Sizes vary. Condition varies, generally A-. Paper. In the 1920s and '30s, Miami Beach, Florida became home to a new phase in American architecture: Art Deco. Today, the city has the world's largest numberof Art Deco-inspired buildings more than 400, the majority located in the South Beach area. These six posters take their cue from the hotelsand nightclubs that they are advertising. In order to capture the Art Deco architectural style of the buildings, Vandracek utilizes many ArtDeco graphic design techniques, giving the posters a streamlined, minimalist feel. From the "Holy-Three," triptych-like facade of the Breakwater hotel to the Cubist-inspired Victor hotel, all of the buildings featured in these posters capture the creative, sophisticated spirit that characterized the Art Deco movement, both inarchitecture and design.
