Condition B+: repaired tears and restored losses in margins, creases in margins and image.
The busy docks at Liverpool were the home of the world's first electric, elevated railway. The track, which had been conceived of to alleviate dock-side congestion, opened in 1893. The railway ran for a total of six and one half miles, not only allowing passengers to glimpse the impressive array of ships constantly at dock in the busy harbor, but also providing shelter to those below; it was nicknamed "the docker's umbrella." The elevated line was shut down in 1956.
All items are offered for sale subject to Swann Galleries' standard terms and conditions of sale, which are published in our catalogues and are posted below.
