Leib of the American Legion, deny-ing that he is a Communist. 1 page, single 4to sheet, personal stationery. Washington, 7 October 1946 E250/350 Wallace was asked to resign from Roosevelt's Cabinet after he gave a speech denouncing the administration's hard line stance against the Soviet Union. "It is amazing what a false impression the newspapers can create. Of course I am not and never have been a Communist. Nobody hasever asked me to be a Communist. I can't even give you the name of a single American who I am sure is a Communist . . . Communism has no place in free-enterprise America . . ."
