  • Notes: The 2 June issue has a local report on the previous day's Battle of Boston Harbor which took place nearby: "The public mind experienced much agitation yesterday, in expectation of witnessing from the high grounds or house-tops a naval rencontre between the U.S. frigate Chesapeake . . . and the British frigate Shannon. . . . Early in the morning the Shannon was seen cruizing in the bay. . . . The bay was covered with craft and boats . . . full of passengers, and great numbers went to Nahant, Cohasset, Scituate &c to see the expected rencontre." The actual results of the battle were reported in the 5 June issue, as reported by the pilot who led the Chesapeake out of the bay, and other witnesses.

In other war news, the first conflicting reports from the Battle of Lake Erie appear in the 25 September issue, with Perry's full report of the victory in the following 29 September issue.
