  • Notes: In 1855 James Hutchings, a San Francisco publisher, organized one of the first tourist trips to Yosemite bringing with him the artist Thomas Ayres. Later Hutchings returned to the area and brought Ayres and Charles Weed with him. It was at this time that Weed took some of the first photographs of Yosemite Valley.
