    Wegman received an MFA in 1967 from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, but after teaching in the university system, his interests moved from painting towards photography and video. When living in California Wegman acquired Man Ray, a Weimaraner, who became the central figure in Wegman''s new photographic career.
