Including:

1) Autograph letter signed, New York, March 1924, to a Lavinia Mitchell of Buffalo, New York, written on one sheet of her Fourteen East Sixtieth Street, New York writing paper, with original holograph envelope, accepting her offer of hospitality, a reversal of her previous refusal, noting, "I didn't know you were the friend of whom S.K.R. has talked so much," old folds, 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 in.;

2) Typed letter signed, London, June 3, 1937, to a Lloyd F. Baker, on her 15 Orchard Court, Portman Square letter paper, thanking him for his kind letter and suggesting her books Harriet Hume, "if you like fantasy," or The Harsh Voice, "which is a modern novel,", with original typed envelope, the letter tacked to a board, 5 1/2 x 5 in.;

3) Single sheet autographed by West and John Gielgud, 3 1/2 x 4 in. (3)

Lavinia Mitchell's address in the first letter is given as "The Circle, Buffalo." In 1924, Mitchell lived in the grand Avery Mansion originally built in 1892. She sold the house in 1938 and it was demolished. In 1924, West was touring through the States. In a piece published in The New Republic on December 24, 1924, she wrote: "One has been fond of European places, but the affection has been mild and reasonable, in America, it is real love."
