(WEST.) Two prints of western scenes.

(WEST.) Two prints of western scenes. Chromolithographs, both trimmed to 523 x 720 mm and mounted on white canvas-backed paper; polished with minor scuffs and tears. Np, nd

  • Notes: One is titled "Chase of Wild Horses in the Wild West." It depicts 3 white men and 2 Indians on horseback capturing a group of wild horses, with snow-capped mountains in the background. The other lacks a caption, but is apparently by the same artist. It depicts 3 white men and 5 Indians hunting a herd of buffalo together; the central figure bears at least a passing resemblance to "Buffalo Bill" Cody. The artist, lithographer, publisher, and year of publication all remain unknown, but these two handsome Western prints apparently date from the late 19th or early 20th century.
