Weyer, Johann (1515-1588)
De Ira Morbo, eiusdem curatione Philosophica, Medica & Theologica, Liber.

Basel: Ex Officina Oporiniana, 1577.

First edition, octavo, Weyer's work on the Disease of Anger; woodcut printer's device to title page, text in italic type, colophon leaf present; bound in slightly later full sheepskin, rubbed, 6 x 3 3/4 in.

Dutch physician Weyer turned his attention to mental illness and stood against the concept of demonic possession during the Inquisition. In the present work, he treats anger, which he describes as the most dangerous affliction of the soul. To combat its power, he recommends baths, exercise, and listening to music.
