  • Notes: with a manuscript poem by wharton, signed and dated on front endpaper. Enclosed is a copy of a letter by R. W. B. Lewis, Master Professor of English and American Studies, Yale University, substantiating the handwriting and declaring that the poem is likely her own as its title and subject is Belgium. She devoted a great deal of time and energy during WWI helping Belgian refugees and was decorated by the Belgian government.
