Willem Sandberg 1897-1984 Binnenhuiskunst. Circa 1935 21 x 15 inches Condition A-: minor creasing throughout image. Paper. A graphic designer and typographer, Sandberg's largest body of work was produced for the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, where he was the Director from 1945-1962 During his tenure there, he designed more than 300 posters for the museum as well as the catalogues and the exhibitions themselves. A very early example of Sandberg's work for the Stedelijk Museum, this one is an advertisement for an upcoming interior decoration exhibition. In his typical off-kilter, unique style, he runs the text asymmetrically around a symbolic yet minimalist image. Sandberg's use of only two colors only adds to the striking simplicity and elegance of this poster.
