McNulty (1889-1963) was born in Ogden, Utah, and studied during the early 1900s at the Art Students League in New York. He made etchings of New York from the late 1920s onward, following the encouragement of Joseph Pennell (see lots 100-102), and also became a successful editorial cartoonist for the Seattle Star.
