Aquatint, 1945-1946. 277x224 mm; 10 7/8x8¾ inches, full margins. Signed, titled, and numbered 9/25 in pencil, lower margin.

William Sharp was an important and well known print maker of the times. This is among the artist's most well known and interesting artworks, with another edition in the National Gallery of Art's permanent collection. Parallel narratives of the "Blue Monday" title can be discerned with the drying clothes of Monday (wash day), the storm clouds, and the figure in the foreground repairing his car.

  • Condition: In overall excellent and clean condition, aside from two spots of minor edgewear to the right sheet edge.

    Light sheet rippling to the top edge. Sheet is hinged to back mat at two points along the top sheet edge, verso. Hinges somewhat loosened.
