  • Notes: ". . . The reception given my address to Congress yesterday has gratified me very much, and it was certainly an act of thoughtful kindness on your part to express your own generous judgment of it."
    On December 4, 1917, Wilson delivered the State of the Union Address before Congress, in which he reaffirmed the American commitment to bring Germany to justice without violating American ideals.
