- Notes: with an original 4-color drawing of a face, signed in purple, by picasso on cover, drawn over the word "Guernica." Though its home was the Museum of Modern Art in New York at the time, this was the first separate exhibition of Picasso's masterpiece in America after its creation two years earlier, shown along with preliminary drawings and studies. It was arranged under the auspices of the American Artists Congress for the Benefit of the Spanish Refugee Relief Campaign chaired by Sidney Janis. Sponsors of the show included Ernest Hemingway, Rockwell Kent, Georgia O' Keeffe, Eleanor Roosevelt, Fiorello LaGuardia, Gilbert Seldes, Carl Van Vechten, and numerous other prominent figures.
