Text and plates loose as issued in lettered white wrappers, soiled, some tears to verso of wrappers, scattered light marginal foxing to preliminaries, plates bright and clean; original vellum-backed chemise, slipcase, worn, bottom panel lacking. - Notes: one of only twenty-six lettered copies containing an original steel-faced copper plate and an additional suite of the 36 engravings. First Edition illustrated by Derain. At Ambroise Vollard's request, Derain engraved the plates in 1934. However, due to World War Two and Vollard's unexpected death, the project was temporarily abandoned until the 1950s.
