Album entitled "China," containing 61 photographs of Hong Kong, Singapore, Canton, and Shanghai, with a 3-part panorama of a bustling Canton river scene measuring 7 3/4x32 1/2 inches (19.8x90.5 cm.) and a 2-part panorama of Hong Kong. Features 16 photographs of Hong Kong, including Queens Road and the port; 15 views of Canton, including flower boats, settlements of Shahmeen, streets scenes and temple interiors, pagodas and towers; 7 views of Shanghai, with wonderful studies of a hairdresser at work, musicians, prisoners, a nurse, as well as Mr. Sharp's documentation of a beheading, with a short article about his work; and numerous portraits and a street scene in Singapore. Albumen prints, most are 8x11 inches (20.3x28 cm.), with penciled caption information, in English and German, on mount recto. Several of the photographs appear in imperial china-photographs 1850-1912, including panorama of Wu-Chou, Kswangsi execution scene (attributed to W. Saunders), which was referenced as Shanghai but in this album is captioned Nanking.
