(WORLD WAR TWO.) Archive of publicity and staff material from the Hamilton Standard Propellers plant. 51 items in one box; various sizes and conditions. Vp, 1943-44

  • Notes: Hamilton Standard Propellers, a division of the United Aircraft Corporation, was a major aerospace supplier during World War Two, with central offices in East Hartford, CT and 3 factories in nearby Connecticut and Rhode Island. These papers apparently were retained by a staffer in the advertising department based at the Pawcatuck, CT plant. The most striking item is a hand-painted workplace "Honor Roll" sign in blue, red, and gold from the company''s Pawcatuck, CT plant: "Over 100 employees have left this plant to enter the Armed Forces of the U.S.A. Their success depends upon our effort." It measures 9 3/4 x 17 inches, with some damage to the left edge affecting two letters of the text. Also included are 8 leaves of pencil notes and sketches for workplace signs and posters, encouraging production and war bond drive participation * 5 publications including the staff newsletter, the Hamilton Standard Blade from 16 November 1944 * 11 interoffice memoranda regarding the staff newsletter and war news, 1944 * 20 offprints for Hamilton magazine advertisements, including many duplicates * and 6 full-size posters: two different "Air Fronts" posters issued by the United States Army (one of them in quadruplicate) and a defective "Americans Will Always Fight for Liberty" (Office of War Information, 1943).
