(WORLD WAR TWO.) [Olson, Charles; and Ben Shahn.] Spanish Speaking Americans in the War.

(WORLD WAR TWO.) [Olson, Charles; and Ben Shahn.] Spanish Speaking Americans in the War. Profusely illustrated. 24 pages. 4to, original illustrated wrappers; minimal wear. [Washington, DC: Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs, 1943]

  • Notes: Charles Olson and Ben Shahn were employed in the Office of War Information, but were loaned to the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs under Nelson Rockefeller to produce this bilingual pamphlet on the role of Latinos in the war effort. After the war, Olson achieved fame as a poet and critic, and Shahn as an illustrator and poster artist. This is considered to be Olson's first published work. See Belgrad, The Culture of Spontaneity, page 24.
