Ziegfeld, Florenz. Typed Letter Signed to Brooks Atkinson of the New York Times, praising his review of the revival of Show Boat. 2 pages, 4to, on Ziegfeld Theatre letterhead; minor flaws. Matted; framed with 8.5 x 11- inch contemporary photograph of Robeson in a scene from Show Boat, and a small photogravure portrait of Ziegfeld. New York, 4 June 1932; 1932 E1,000/1,500 Ziegfeld, who produced the first appearance of Show Boat, is effusive in thanks to Atkinson: "I was quite thrilled at your very kind notice on 'Show Boat.' That pro-duction has had a very soft spot in my heart ever since I first had the opportunity of producing it. I had no idea, however, that the public would be so interested in a revival of it, enough to pack a theatre as large as the Casino but people who see the show now say that I have materially improved the cast with the addi-tions of Dennis King and Paul Robeson ." He then complains about the union forcing him to hire extra stage hands. [SEE ILLUSTRATION]
