African-American Fine Art at Boston’s MFA

If your summer travels take you to the Boston area, be sure to visit the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA), which has added a handful of works to their collection via our African-American Fine Art auctions.

An untitled Norman Lewis oil on canvas circa 1960-64 that sold at Swann Galleries in October 2008 set an auction record for the artist of $312,000.

Also gracing the MFA’s walls are works by abstract painter and collage artist Al Loving, including Cube 27, which brought $84,000 in February 2009.

The works are now part of the museum’s collection and will frequently be on view. We offer auctions of African-American Fine Art twice each year. Contact Nigel Freeman for more information about consigning quality materials.
