Marco Tomaschett joined the Autographs department in 2007, following four years as administrator of the Books department.

Some examples of Marco’s work with the Autographs department include Thomas Jefferson’s 1805 Autograph Letter Signed to the Marquis de Lafayette, suggesting that he take property in New Orleans ($84,000, 2007); Robert E. Lee’s 1864 Autograph Letter Signed, in which he proposes a prisoner of war exchange to Ulysses S. Grant ($57,000, 2009); and Sigmund Freud’s Photograph Signed in 1925 ($20,000, 2010: a record for photographs signed by him).

Together with Americana specialist Rick Stattler, Marco produced the most successful book department auction in Swann's history, the Allyn Kellogg Ford Collection (grossing $2 million; 2012). Marco holds a BA in philosophy from Hunter College of CUNY and an MA in philosophy from UC Davis.
