Unique dye-destruction and photogram print, the image measuring 66x24

inches (167.6x61 cm.), flush mounted to aluminum, with Derges’ signature and the printed title,

date, and the notation “unique,” on a label, on mount verso. 1998

Derges created the images in this series at night in Dartmoor, England. The other-worldly,

mesmerizing images of the river’s ripples and floating debris were made by placing large sheets of

light-sensitive cibachrome paper in a box constructed with aluminum and submerging it in the

River Taw.When she was ready to make an image, the top of the box was removed, a flash set off,

and the sheet exposed.
