Prince, who will someday become its ruler, guarantees that you will partake in that affection but your

own merits give you special claims upon it, claims that I will grant you with great pleasure. . . .”

Princess Caroline of Waldeck and Pyrmont (1748-1782) married the Duke of Courland Peter von

Biron (1724-1800) in 1765.
