The Flowers

were first published in large sizes as individual images in 1898. Their subsequent success

led Champenois to print them in a variety of different formats for eager collectors. Among these was

this smaller format version, marketed towards those people who had less room in which to enjoy the

images, with the four flowers on a single sheet. For the project, Mucha surrounded the images with

an elaborate, decorative border, effectively turning them into a small screen. Rennert / Weill 49 (var
