IN A CUSTOM BINDING DESIGNED BY MILLAIS

for the American conserva-

tionist Charles Sheldon (1867-1928), a friend and Yukon hunting companion of Selous.

According to a note by a former owner, only four examples of the binding were produced.

Accompanying the book are a pencil drawing on paper by Millais of the binding decorations,

signed and dated 1920, 200x170 mm, with horizontal crease across the center; and 2 ALsS

from Millais to Sheldon concerning the production of the binding and other matters, one page

and 4 pages, Compton Brow, Horsham, 3 March 1920 and nd.
