Hollywood Jazz: 1945-1972

mural at Capitol Records which was designed and painted

by Richard Wyatt.The project was originally funded by the Los Angeles Endowment for the Arts

and sponsored by the Los Angeles Jazz Society.The Jazz Society hired Wyatt to design it, based on

their idea for a mural depicting jazz greats and the Hollywood venues they called home.Within the

mural,Wyatt depicts jazz legends Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Charlie Parker, Tito Puente, Miles

Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Shelly Manne, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Holiday, Duke Ellington, and of course

Nat ‘King’ Cole.
