Puebla, circa 1750s [400/600] An effort to regulate commerce in pulque, the traditional alcoholic beverage made from agave sap, particularly as conducted by non-Indians. The decree is undated, but dates from Pantaleon’s term as bishop from 1743 to 1763. Not found in Palau, Medina’s Puebla, OCLC, or at auction. 374 ● (PERU.) [Xerez, Francisco de]. Small 4to, early vellum-covered boards, minor wear and soiling; rehinged, early inscription erased from title page, intermittent dampstaining; later bookplate on front pastedown. Venice: Stephano de Sabbio, 1535 [12,000/18,000] FIRST ITALIAN EDITION , translated by Dominico de Gaztelu just a year after the Spanish first edition. One of the most important records of the conquest of Peru, written by Pizarro’s secretary by his request.
