This particular Lockheed Constellation L-749A, was built for Air France and went into service in 1950. In December of 1955 she was transferred to Air Algeria. On April 26th, 1962, this aircraft (F-BAZE) was blown up at Algeria's International Airport (Maison Blanche), by a militant French terrorist group opposed to Algerian independence. Although there were no fatalities, the aircraft was damaged beyond repaired by the explosion.
