Yellowstone was recognized as America's first National Park, when President Ulysses S. Grant signed it into being in 1872. The Park covers areas in three states; primarily Wyoming, but also Montana and Idaho. Home to exceptional geothermal activities and phenomena, the Park's most famous landmark, Old Faithful was named by the first official expedition to the region in 1870. She is not the biggest geyser in the park, but her name comes from her frequency, and regularity.
