- Notes: Horace Robbins Burdick (1844-1942) was an artist in Malden, MA. This daybook documents several portraits and landscapes done by Burdick in his later life, and also shows that his primary livelihood during this period was as an art restorer. Burdick''s entries identify numerous clients, usually describing the painting restored, the work done and the final bill. He charged one customer $25 for "devarnishing & repainting hand on Copley portrait, soldier with red coat" in a typical entry. Burdick is identified by a 1915 entry which gives his address and mentions a known painting. A few entries note work done by "Alice & I," likely referring to Burdick''s wife Alice Pratt Burdick.
