BARON ADOLPH DE MEYER (1868–1946) Cora Brown Potter. Circa 1900.

BARON ADOLPH DE MEYER (1868–1946)
Cora Brown Potter. Circa 1900.
Platinum print, the image measuring 9½x4¾ inches (24.1x12.1 cm.), the mount 9 7/8x5 inches (25.1x12.7 cm.), with the Baron Adolph de Meyer Archive stamp with the number "079" on print verso and mount verso, and the title in pencil on mount verso.

  • Condition: Baron Adolph de Meyer's gorgeous portrait of Cora Brown Potter, circa 1900 is in nearly excellent condition. The print is lush and rich, with the beautiful middle tones associated with platinum prints.

Under close examination in raking light, there are two exceedingly thin linear impressions in the lower left quadrant (below the sitter's foot down to the ground). It remains extremely discreet. In strong raking light, there are also a few scattered faint scuffs in the dark area of the image in the lower quadrant, but here as well, it remains unobtrusive and doesn't detract from the overall beautiful composition.

The presentation is also clean and neat: The verso of the print is clean and tipped on its upper edge to a mount, with the Baron Adolph de Meyer Archive stamp with the number "079", both on print verso and mount verso, and the title in pencil on mount verso.
