CNEP Two Maquettes. 1953 19.375 x 16.5 inches. Condition A-: minor discolorations in images. Gouache on board. In 1953, the CNEP Comptoir National d'Escompte de Paris, a Parisian bank, asked Cassandre to design their logo. For the project he used a strong and graphically stylized update of the ship that is on the coat of arms inthe city of Paris. The lettering is brilliant, in the style of the typographic works he did in this period such as the covers for Occident, the record jackets for Pathe, and the 1957 poster for la Foire de Paris. He also designed two posters, applying similar typographic trends for the same bank. ref. Cassandre/Mouron - plates 69-70 Suntory - p. 132 to 140 for the records.
