  • Notes: first edition. Manuel Lorenzo Vidaurre (1773-1841) prepared this lengthy study of the defects of Bourbon rule at the behest of the Colegio de San Carlos, which was meeting to draft a Spanish constitution. The study was later revised, and sections on the slave problem in the New World were added. The work was dedicated to Simon Bolivar, who later named Vidaurre to presidency of the Peruvian Supreme Court. Not in Schomburg or Blockson. Sabin 99411.
