DOVE PRODUCTION CAGE à la Robert-Houdin. Rectangular collapsible cage, of painted wood and metal, made in the 19th century, duplicating exactly the dimensions and folding pattern as specified by Robert-Houdin in one of his written works. 9 3/4x11 3/4x8 inches (24.5x30x20 cm). France, circa 1880.
- Notes: The effect when presented by Robert-Houdin was known as the "Enchanted Portfolio" (Le Carton) and involved the miraculous appearance of the cage from a standard print portfolio.
