- Notes: Ginsberg and Burroughs met in New York, in 1943, while Ginsberg was a student at Columbia. Burroughs introduced Ginsberg to the beat world of literature and poetry; the two became life-long friends. This photograph was most likely taken when the two lived together for a brief period of time in 1953.
