(HARRISON, WILLIAM HENRY.) Log Cabin.

A WHIG CAMPAIGN NEWSPAPER (HARRISON, WILLIAM HENRY.) Log Cabin. 4 pages. Folio; minor soiling and wear; early owner's signature on front page. Dayton, OH, 22 August 1840

  • Notes: An interesting memento from William Henry Harrison's successful presidential run, which broke new ground in negative campaigning. Includes a list of Dayton men who have switched over to the Harrison camp, denouncing President Van Buren's "deranging and usurping hand." Also a long critique of Van Buren's plans for a standing army. Illustrated with woodcuts of a log cabin and of a rooster crowing "Tippecanoe-o-o-o-o." Issue 11 only, of the 13 which appear to have been issued irregularly throughout the year.
  • Condition: All items are offered for sale subject to Swann Galleries' standard terms and conditions of sale, which are published in our catalogues.
