JEFFERSON, THOMAS. Message from the President of the United States, containing his Communication to both Houses of Congress,
at the Commencement of the Second Session of the Ninth Congress. 12 pages. Documents accompanying a Message from the President of the United States. 24 pages. Each 8vo, disbound; the first with uneven toning affecting the title, the second with minor foxing. Senate issue. Washington, 1806
- Notes: The Documents accompanying Jefferson's message is of some Texas-related interest, as it contains information on a military expedition by Spanish forces across the Sabine and into Louisiana. See Streeter, Texas 1037. Jefferson's speech also mentions the Spanish aggressions, contains a paragraph discussing the accomplishments of Lewis and Clark and announces the forthcoming results of Pike's expedition up the Mississippi. See Wagner-Camp 5a for a newspaper extra printing of this address.
