JOACHIM [BEATLES]. 1968.

79x29 inches.
Condition A. Four sheets.
The Beatles were so popular that they were immortalized by many different artists. Within the giant body of portraiture they inspired, Richard Avedon's colorful, solarized portraits of them, in 1967, are among the best known poster images of the Fab Four to emerge from that era (see Swann Modernist Poster Auction #1859, lot 103). Yet other artists were also able to capture their spirit and the mood of the times with equal finesse. These four posters (mounted together on a single sheet of linen) are done in a pure pop-art style, with the day-glow colors and flowers that so epitomized the 1960s scene. Unfortunately, without a printer's name on the poster, it is impossible to know much more about this highly nostalgic piece which would have been one of the many decorative posters that were published, mostly in London, celebrating the group during the flower-power period.
