A graduate of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Nagai helped to found the Nippon Design center, of which he is currently the director. Throughout his career he has won practically every possible prize and medal in the graphic arts world. This group of posters are from an early period when he would play on the computer and create geometric forms with vivid colors in a cosmic environment. In 1988 he began to draw animals with a personal and contemporary touch (see Modernist Posters sale 1859, lot 93).
