LA ROUILLE. 1929.
61x40 3/4 inches. H. Chachoin, Paris.
Condition B+: restoration along vertical and horizontal folds; minor repaired tears in margins.
This play, written by two Russian authors, was a complete flop. All that remains of its brief run is one of the best theater posters designed by Colin. In a few strokes, using only black, red and rust, with the hammer and sickle, a heart and a suggested character, Colin evokes the plot of this play: the passionate drama between two Bolshevist propagandists. Under the circumstances of the play's demise, there was clearly only a limited printing of the poster, which makes the image very rare.
