Louise Dahl-Wolfe began her career in photography in 1923 In 1926, she joined the staff of Harper's Bazaar, working closely with art director Alexey Brodovitch.Her style, called "environmental" photography, which meant shooting on location with natural light and in color, had an enormous impact on fashion photography in general and specifically on photographers such as Horst, Richard Avedon, and Irving Penn. This poster, which isan enlargement of the cover shot on the August 1957 edition of Harper's Bazaar, shows a young woman, elegant and natural looking, typifying the "HB Look'.
