The Independent order of Good Samaritans was the women's branch of the Knights of Pythias, instituted in 1860 A very early women's Lodge. Brothers and Sisters of the Mysterious Ten in Kentucky was organized earlier in 1854, but not formally instituted until 1861 The Knights of Pythias, with its womens branch, was instituted in 1868 See Illustration
