  • Notes: Caleb Stark (1759-1838) and his brother-in-law John McKinstry (1769-1825) were partners in a Boston mercantile business. Includes * 4 draft letters from Caleb Stark, mostly to the Philadelphia firm of Joseph Anthony & Son, 1791-1796 * 14 letters received by the firm from banker Samuel Sparhawk of Concord, N.H., another of McKinstry's brothers-in-law, discussing both business and personal matters, 1807-1809 * 53 letters received and accounts with other merchants, 1806-1812; among the commodities traded are rice, cotton, and linen * 6 letters to Caleb's son John W. Stark (1788-1836), also a Boston merchant, from other merchants in Calcutta, Havana, St. Petersburg and elsewhere concerning silk shipments, 1820-1821.
